When renting a car, best insurance is to read fine print
Say you rent a car for $50 a day and get into a fender-bender. If it takes a week to repair the car and settle the claim, the rental agency could charge your credit card $350 for “loss of use” of their vehicle, regardless of whether you caused the accident. Since another renter might have purchased rental insurance over those seven days, the rental agency might also charge you for lost rental insurance income, which could be hundreds more.
