Farmers Market to be held Saturdays this summer

The Wakefield Farmers Market recently kicked off its fourth season. Through Oct. 20, the outdoor market will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hall Park, located on North Avenue next to Lake Quannapowitt. This year, 29 vendors have signed up, with an average of 18 to 20 expected each week. Among this year’s vendors are six farmers offering produce, and pasture-raised meat, eggs, and cheese. There also will be vendors selling fresh fish, baked goods, preserves, salsa, root beer, Middle Eastern fare, cotton candy, soap, and crafts. The market accepts payment under the federal WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program; the federal Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program; and SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program). The market also will feature special events, including musical entertainment, and information from local nonprofits on their services. For more information, go to
