Girls Inc. of Lynn last month hosted a SMART Girls Summit, at which about 120 girls in grades 6 through 8 participated in career workshops led by women who work in the engineering, math, science, and technology fields. They also attended a lunch and were provided with resources such as a website and books about the subjects. The SMART (Science, Math and Relevant Technology) summit served as the kickoff of Girls Inc. of Lynn’s Eureka and Bridges summer programs. Eureka is a six-week, full-day program during which girls explore science and math through hands-on activities, group projects, and field trips. Bridges focuses on providing exposure to nontraditional careers in technology, math, and the sciences.
