Jewish Foundation receives $2 million grant

The Chelsea Jewish Foundation, a nonprofit that owns and operates nursing care and assisted living facilities in Chelsea, recently announced its receipt of a $2 million gift from the Slotnick Korelitz Charitable Trust. The gift was dedicated in memory of Arnold E. Korelitz, a businessman who supported the work of the foundation for many years prior to his death in 2008. The donation is earmarked specifically for the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, one of the foundation’s facilities. It followed a recent $1 million donation the foundation received from the Adelson Family Foundation. The support comes at a time when the organization is preparing for several new projects, including a collaboration with Temple Tifereth Israel in Winthrop and Affirmative Investments to build a new temple building and develop 40 senior apartments at the Winthrop site. The foundation also plans to begin renovating the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home next spring.
