The town has been awarded a federal grant to beef up its Fire Department, which relies primarily on part-time, or call, firefighters. The department currently has nine full-time firefighters and 18 call firefighters. The $343,760 recruitment grant from the Department of Homeland Security’s assistance to firefighters program will be used to recruit, train, and maintain 10 additional firefighters.
