Adult patrons of the Peabody Institute Library have the chance to earn rewards for their reading this summer. The library last Monday launched its adult summer reading program. Like the summer programs the library offers for children and teens, the adult program offers incentives to adults to encourage them to read. Participants in the adult program, who must be 18 or over, are invited to check out books at any of the city's three libraries and enter a raffle to win gift certificates to local restaurants. Those taking part will earn one raffle ticket for every two books they check out. The program runs through Aug. 31. The three libraries are the Main Library, 82 Main St.; the South Branch Library, 78 Lynn St.; and the West Branch Library, 603 Lowell St. "We're just hoping the program will encourage people to come to the library this summer to borrow some books, to read for fun, and maybe to explore some of Peabody's local restaurants at the same time," said Kelley Rae Unger, the adult services librarian.
