Pleasant Street affordable home purchased

James Powers of Gloucester recently purchased the affordable home being offered by the town of Rockport at 30 Pleasant St. The 1,300-square-foot, four-bedroom house, which includes a marble fireplace, two bathrooms, a whirlpool, and brass fixtures, sold for $190,000 to the income-eligible first-time buyer. The home was given as a gift to the town in 2001 and was relocated. But its sale was delayed by several factors, including removal of contaminated soil on the house lot. The home was put on the market in late 2011 for $220,000, but the Board of Selectmen subsequently dropped the price due to lack of interest.
