Portion of camp property leased to family swordsmanship company

Town officials this summer are restricting access to a portion of the East Boston Camps property. The Westford Conservation Commission has leased the parcel of the camp property formerly known as The Boys Camp to Guard Up! Inc. for operation of a day and overnight camp program that is scheduled to run through Aug. 11. To ensure campers' safety, there will be no public access allowed to that area of the property. The protected area can be seen on a map that may be viewed online by visiting the town website at westfordma.gov. To view a map of the restricted area, visit the town website at westfordma.gov and click on the link to “Restrictions in EBC during Guard Up!” in the town notices section on the homepage. The public will be allowed to walk past the restricted area via a temporary camp bypass trail. Visitors should be aware, however, that campers will be using the entire East Boston Camps property, so they may come across children and Guard Up! personnel dressed in role-playing costumes. Visitors should also note that dogs must be kept on a leash for everyone's safety.
