Bob Loomer, a retired Wayland Fire Department chief, is serving as interim chief in Manchester-by-the-Sea. Loomer, also a senior instructor at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in Stow, took over from retired Chief Andy Paskalis earlier this month. A search committee is reviewing 35 candidates who applied to become permanent chief.
