Passport to Safety Town, a program for youngsters ages 4 to 6, will be held Aug. 7-9 at the tot lot on Melrose Common. The city’s Recreation Department is sponsoring the event, which will run from 10 a.m. to noon each day. Lessons about bicycle safety, first aid, fire prevention, and playground behavior will be among the topics covered. The event is free, but a $25 deposit is required to register a child. The deposit will be returned if the child attends all three sessions. To register or get more information, call 781-979-4179 or e-mail recreation@cityofmelrose.org.
