Town Common to get 33 new trees

The Town Common improvement project is progressing. Trash barrels have been replaced with six double trash/recycling receptacles, and crews have moved on to the tree-planting phase, said Public Works director Bruce D. Thibodeau. Contracted landscapers are slated to remove seven dead trees and to plant 33 new ones. The tree work is estimated to take about a month to complete, Thibodeau said. Broken wooden benches also will be replaced with six teak benches. Town officials have indicated they would allow individuals to make donations to have a bench formally dedicated to someone. If there are more than six letters of interest received, the town will hold a lottery.
