Burlington Crossroads overhaul hearing set for Dec. 6

The owner of the Burlington Crossroads shopping center is seeking town approval to overhaul the 34 Middlesex Road facility. The Planning Board on Dec. 6 will hold a public hearing into applications by the center’s owner, Edens,  for the project. According to Kristin Kassner, the town’s interim planning director, the overhaul would be similar to the one that EDENS carried out at the Middlesex Commons, the shopping center at 43 Middlesex Turnpike that it also owns. Burlington Crossroads is a 190,611-square-foot center whose retailers include Roche Brothers supermarket, Marshalls, Michaels, and CVS, according to the Edens ’ website. The company plans to upgrade the exterior of the mall, add landscaping and lighting in the parking lot, and add seasonal outdoor seating at Panera Bread and Outback Steakhouse restaurants. “It’s always good news when property owners in Burlington . . . want to come in and improve existing sites,” Kassner said.
