The city is inviting residents to its 29th annual holiday festival next Sunday at City Hall. Mayor Ted Bettencourt is sponsoring the festival, continuing a tradition begun by the late mayor Peter Torigian and continued under his successor, Michael J. Bonfanti. This year’s festival begins at 4 p.m. with carols performed by the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School a cappella group Full House in front of City Hall. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 4:30 p.m. and will assist Bettencourt in lighting the trees outside. At 4:45 p.m., the mayor, Santa, and Mrs. Claus will lead participants inside City Hall to Wiggin Auditorium. Following greetings and remarks, there will be entertainment, refreshments, and an opportunity for children to meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event, which runs to 6:15 p.m., is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the mayor’s office at 978-538-5704.
