Planned memorial gets $10,000 donation

Public Service Co. of New Hampshire has donated $10,000 toward the creation of the African Burying Ground Memorial Park. The electric utility’s contribution is one of the largest corporate donations in the campaign to raise $1.2 million to create a fitting memorial. To date about $563,000, as well as pledges of $200,000 for materials and labor, has been contributed to the fund. A model of sculptor Jerome Meadows’s plan for the memorial, which will include male and female figures and a large granite slab, is expected to be unveiled soon.
