Mayor Scott D. Galvin recently announced the hiring of four new police officers and the promotion of a fifth. Galvin appointed Kevin Hamilton, Edward Chisholm, Kylee Lally, and Daniel Driscoll as patrol officers, and promoted patrol officer Dennis McGrath to sergeant. All four new officers had been on the Police Department's reserve list. Because they had previously attended a police academy, they were able to start right away. Three of the positions were vacant due to retirements and another was created in this year's budget, according to Galvin. McGrath fills a sergeant's position that became vacant due to a retirement.
