It’s going to get more difficult to park downtown. According to a draft report released by the city’s parking garage site selection committee, in 2012, the downtown had a shortfall of about 120 public parking spaces at peak demand periods. That shortfall will only increase next year when a 205-space downtown parking lot is eliminated by Portwalk and the new hotel, apartment, restaurant and retail development will increase the demand for downtown parking.
