The Festival of Trees Inc. is soliciting applicants for its 2013 Historic Preservation Grant Program. Matching grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to qualified projects that involve preservation of buildings built prior to 1900, and that have already gone through the bid process. The Festival of Trees began as a fund-raiser to benefit the last stages of restoration on the historic Tenney Gatehouse in 1994. To date, the festival has awarded $1.25 million in grants, funding some 140 preservation projects in the Merrimack Valley and beyond. Applications for 2013 grants are due by Dec. 30. They can be requested by calling 978-695-8878, or are available for download at methuenfestivaloftrees.com.
