Parking meter fees suspended through Jan. 1

The city is advising residents that parking meter fees will be suspended from Friday through Jan. 1. The free parking is an effort to encourage people to visit local restaurants and shops during the holiday season. Meanwhile, officials announced that residents can now rent additional 64-gallon trash bins to supplement the ones they were given earlier this fall. The city’s trash customers are required to use city-owned trash bins for all their curbside trash and each customer was provided with a single bin free of charge. Additional bins can be rented at an annual price of $150 for residents and $200 for businesses. Anyone seeking to rent a bin must request them in person at the collector’s office on the first floor of City Hall.
