The City Council has postponed a vote on a proposal to limit building heights. The ordinance is being considered because the new Portwalk complex features a building that will be about 70 feet tall at its highest point, even though a current zoning ordinance limits building heights in the area to 60 feet. The taller building is allowed under the current height ordinance that restricts only the average height of a building, thus allowing the taller building because another segment of the structure has a lower height. The council postponed a vote on the ordinance until more interested parties are asked for their input.
