Reading challenge kicks off Jan. 3

The Billerica Public Library is launching its “13 in ’13 Adult Reading Challenge” on Thursday, Jan. 3, with food, prizes, and fun from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, 15 Concord Road. The event challenges people to renew, refresh, and revive their reading in the new year. Participants need not be Billerica residents to join the challenge; however, they must be at least 18 years of age. Participants will earn raffle tickets for each book they read (newspapers, magazines, and children’s books do not count) and every “13 in ’13” event they attend. At the end of 2013, all earned tickets will be entered into a drawing for prizes. To learn more, visit the library website at  or call 978-671-0948.
