The Board of Aldermen has requested a special election to fill the State House seat that would have been occupied by former state representative-elect Stacie Laughton. The state’s first openly transgendered lawmaker gave up her seat after news surfaced that she had committed several felonies in Laconia under the name Barry Charles Laughton Jr. Aldermen voted unanimously to ask governor-elect Maggie Hassan and the state Executive Council to hold an election to replace her. A primary could be held as early as February and a general election in April.
