Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank recently announced plans to open its first branch office in New Hampshire, at 254 State St. in downtown Portsmouth. Pending regulatory approvals, the Portsmouth branch, a block from Market Square, is expected to open in April 2013. To accommodate its growth plans in the Portsmouth area, the bank plans to welcome 12 to 15 new employees in the coming year. “We are thrilled to join the Portsmouth area as an active and engaged community partner,” Janice C. Morse, president and chief executive officer of Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, said in a written statement. The 158-year-old bank has six locations and about 100 employees.
