Winning Home Inc., a Concord-based charitable organization that provides services and support to children who are in need, has awarded a $10,000 grant to VNA Hospice Care for its Children and Youth Bereavement Program, which offers one-on-one counseling and peer support groups for children and teenagers coping with loss. The grant will also help fund the resource guidebook, “When Children Grieve: How Educators Can Help.” The publication is free to the community. VNA Hospice Care offers comfort, care, and compassion to patients and families in Wilmington and dozens of other communities in and around Boston who are facing life-limiting illnesses and loss, regardless of acuity or cost. The nonprofit relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and local service organizations to help close the gap between the organization’s cost to care for patients and what it is reimbursed; public and private insurance reimbursements cover about 90 percent of the VNA Hospice Care budget. Founded in 1979, VNA Hospice Care is one of the oldest and most respected hospices in New England, offering support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
