New fire substation won’t be built next year

The town will not be building a new fire substation next year. The Fire Department has proposed a new substation off Epping Road, but the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously not to present a town warrant for the $2.4-million station to voters in March. The move came despite a favorable review by the budget recommendations committee. If the 8,400-square-foot station is eventually built, it would be staffed by four firefighters.
