Voters will be asked to contribute almost $118,000 in taxes to the construction of a senior center. The Board of Selectmen has approved a warrant article to be presented to voters to fund the construction of a senior center and cable TV studio for $1.77 million. If approved, the warrant will authorize the use of $844,467 from the cable access center capital reserve fund and $512,055 from the senior center capital reserve fund to pay for the majority of the bill. The town’s Council on Aging will contribute $303,504 to the center and the remaining $117,996 will come from taxes. The senior center construction was originally not supposed to require any tax money.
