City and state officials recently joined in the official opening of the city’s new Regional Housing Resource Center at 117 Franklin St. Operated by the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development, the center provides housing assistance for individuals and families. In addition to financial support, it provides referrals for job training, mental health, and other services. The housing authority started the center to more effectively disburse funds, information, and support. Aaron Gornstein, undersecretary for the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, was among those attending the opening. In addition to taking part in the ceremony, he met with members of the North Shore Housing Action Group, a network of organizations that works to combat homelessness, at the housing authority’s headquarters, and briefed them on current state initiatives for homeless families.
