Failure to recycle will result in lack of trash removal

The Board of Selectmen recently voted to approve a mandatory recycling policy. Notice of the policy will be sent to all residents with their census form, according to Town Manager Jodi Ross’s latest newsletter. Under the new policy, on the weeks that a neighborhood has recycling pickup, people who do not recycle will not have their trash picked up. All recyclables can now go in the same container. There is no need to sort. Mandatory recycling ensures that the town gets recyclables out of the trash flow, reducing the amount of material sent to the incinerator in North Andover and, therefore, the amount the town pays for trash disposal.
