The Reading Public Library will host former naval officer Craig M. Brandt, facilitator of the library’s popular Great Discussions series and editor of the 1989 national government publication “Military Assistance and Foreign Policy,” for a presentation dubbed “The US Arms Trade: Inside the Headlines.” Brandt’s appearance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at the library, 64 Middlesex Ave. As arms sales skyrocket, Brandt will discuss who is buying which weapons and how they are being used. Audience members will discover how this multibillion-dollar trade affects the defense industry in Massachusetts as well as policy abroad. Seats are limited. This program is part of the LiveWires – Lifelong Learning in the Library series and is free as a result of the sponsorship of the Friends of the Reading Public Library. For more information, call the library at 781-944-0840.
