Dozens of Stoneham area residents gathered on Christmas Eve at the Stoneham Town Common for a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the Newtown, Conn., shooting of Dec. 14. The vigil was organized by Stoneham resident Erin Sinclair. Participants read poems and tributes. Stoneham Middle School students offered remembrance pins and collected donations to support the victims’ families. The vigil ended with the release of balloons, a symbolic farewell to the  children and women killed in the shootings.
