Council to hear latest on Broadway revitalization

At its meeting on Jan. 29, the Broadway Advisory Council will hear an update on plans to revitalize the Broadway business district. The plan calls for streetscape and pedestrian safety improvements on Broadway between Beach Street and Mountain Avenue, including ornamental street lights; decorative crosswalks and curb ramps; replacement of damaged concrete sidewalk panels; and significant landscaping upgrades. The council is an advisory group initiated last September by Mayor Dan Rizzo to help ensure the Broadway business community has a say in the revitalization effort. The group includes individual business owners, representatives of the Revere Chamber of Commerce, and a city councilor. “We cannot hope to improve our central business district without the support and buy-in from local business owners,’’ the mayor said. “It is my hope that this public investment into the face of our city will yield much-needed private investment in years to come.”
