Crossroads shopping center upgrades in the works

The Planning Board is set to resume a hearing into a proposal for upgrades to the Burlington Crossroads shopping center at 34 Middlesex Road . The shopping center’s owner, Edens, is seeking a minor engineering change and special permits for the estimated $7 million to $8 million project, which follows a $15 million upgrade it carried out at its Middlesex Commons shopping center on the Middlesex Turnpike. The Burlington Crossroads improvements include a new parking lot, landscaping, lighting, signs and storefronts; outdoor seating areas; and interior improvements to accommodate new restaurants and other retailers. The hearing will resume on Jan. 17, the same night the board will continue a hearing into an application by Peach Orchard Place LLC to construct 60 additional apartments and a single-family home at Beacon Village, off Beacon Street.  The board on Nov. 15 approved a subdivision plan for a road that would serve the new development.
