High school to see recreational facility improvements

An ambitious slate of projects to improve recreational facilities at the high school is set to begin in March. The projects call for installing artificial turf on Beasley and Landrigan fields and the reconstruction of tennis courts, according to Richard Stinson, director of public works. The improvements are being funded with part of $5 million authorized by the annual Town Meeting last spring for recreational upgrades. In addition to synthetic turf, the two field projects will include the installation of more energy-efficient lights. Landrigan Field, the home of the high school football team, is being reconfigured to better accommodate other sports, and parking will be expanded and improved. The tennis courts will get new fencing and be made more accessible to people with disabilities. The funds will also pay for the upgrading of the gym floor and field house at the high school set to be done this summer, and the future reconstruction of tennis courts at Veterans Field, Stinson said.
