Town updates regulations for sewers

The town recently developed updated its sewer regulations that cover everything from connecting to the sewer system to what can be put down the drain. Brian Gilbert, Tewksbury’s superintendent of public works, said the completion of the town’s $101 million sewer expansion project in 2010 made the initiative timely, but he noted that the town last updated the regulations in 1984. Town Manager Richard Montuori and Gilbert were set to present the new document to selectmen last Tuesday. The package includes a requirement that certain industries pretreat their sewage.
