The town’s open burning season has begun and will continue through May 1. All open burning requires a 2013 permit. Daily burning of brush and limbs no larger than 3 inches in diameter is allowed between 10 a.m and 4 p.m., weather permitting. Burning of stumps, leaves, or garbage is not permitted. Permits are available at the Fire Department website, www.georgetownfd.com, or after 8:30 a.m. at the fire station. Daily activation of permits will be available online after 9:30 a.m. when conditions allow. Permits are issued under the authority of the fire chief. Residents who violate the open burning rules will be subject to permit revocation.
