Stoneham Theatre has welcomed a new managing director. Debra Rafson, who has professional experience in higher education and the arts, took on her new role earlier this month. Rafson is no stranger to Stoneham Theatre, having worked as the assistant stage manager for its inaugural production of “A Christmas Carol” in 2000. Shortly after graduating from Boston University in 2003 with a master’s degree in arts administration, Rafson became the management associate for the New Repertory Theatre in Watertown, where she worked for four seasons before taking a full-time position as a director of operations for the department of graduate and professional programs at Emmanuel College. As managing director of Stoneham Theatre, Rafson said in a written statement that she wants “to ensure that we continue bringing high-quality theatrical productions and educational opportunities to the Greater Boston community while increasing the awareness of the Stoneham Theatre brand.”
