History author to give library presentation

Winchester resident Kate Clifford Larson, author of “The Assassin’s Accomplice: Mary Surratt and the Plot to Kill Abraham Lincoln,” is scheduled to speak about her book, at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Winchester Public Library, 80 Washington St. Larson, who specializes in 19th- and 20th-century US women’s and African-American history, is expected to give a Powerpoint presentation and field questions from the audience about Surratt and the writing process. She will also discuss “The Conspirator,” a movie about Surratt’s role in the assassination, on which Larson worked as a consultant. Larson is also the author of “Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of American Hero” and the upcoming “Rosemary: An Interrupted Life,” a biography of President John F. Kennedy’s disabled sister, due out this summer. In case of inclement weather, her appearance will be rescheduled for Feb. 13. Call the library for more information, 781-721-7171.
