Winterfest Chelmsford, a family-friendly three-day celebration of the season, returns this week. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. Friday with “We’re All Townies Now!,” a community social at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. The kickoff event will feature dancing, cabaret, and a bevy of comfort foods provided by local restaurants and bakeries. Tickets to the social are $15 per person and may be purchased at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, 1 North Road, and the main branch of the Chelmsford Public Library, 25 Boston Road. This year’s Winterfest activities include skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing at Roberts Field, a nature walk at the Archer Meadowbrook Reservation, and several indoor activities, including the Chelmsford Cultural Council’s photo exhibit, a chowder fest, the Central Cooperative Nursery School’s first chili cook-off, and family bingo at North Town Hall.
