The Amesbury School Department is taking applications for a substitute crossing guard position. Applicants must be able to work throughout the school year during inclement weather, and during early-morning and midafternoon hours. Uniforms will be provided. Duties include providing safety for schoolchildren and pedestrians in designated school crossings, escorting children across the street, helping to prevent children from crossing the street in heavy traffic, and reporting license plate numbers of reckless drivers and suspicious activity to the superintendent of schools. People who are interested should contact Carol Bartlett, 5 Highland St., Amesbury, MA 01913, or by e-mail at bartlettc@amesburyma.gov.
