Mayor Kimberley L. Driscoll recently named Dominick Pangallo as her new chief of staff, effective March 19. Pangallo will replace Jason Silva, who had been the mayor’s top aide since 2006. Silva, who is a Beverly city councilor, recently resigned his Salem post effective Feb. 8 to accept an appointment as executive director of the Salem YMCA. Pangallo, who grew up in Salem, has a bachelor’s degree from Bates College and master’s degrees in public administration and political science, both from Suffolk University. He served as chief aide to state Representative John Keenan from 2005-2007 after having managed the Salem Democrat’s successful 2004 campaign for his State House seat. He currently works as marketing and development director for a regional nonprofit economic and community development agency in Hamilton, N.Y. “I am honored and excited to join Mayor Driscoll’s administration,” Pangallo said in a written statement. “I care deeply about Salem and the future of the community where I grew up and will now raise my own family. There are many important and challenging issues that Salem faces in the years ahead.”
