The City Council has approved a deal that will temporarily add 89 new parking spaces to the parking-starved downtown area. Under the agreement with Cathartes Private Development, the developer will tear down two buildings at 299 Vaughn St., property on which it holds a purchase-and-sales agreement, and lease the land to the city free for up to 10 years. The developer may terminate the deal at any time after the second year if it decides to develop the site.
