New Recreation and Culture Committee has openings

Applications are being sought for seven vacancies on the new Recreation and Culture Committee. Town Manager Robin Crosbie and the Board of Selectmen had put off appointing members to the town’s former Recreation Committee as it rewrote its mission to include a broader definition of recreation, leaving all positions vacant since June 2012. The committee will advise the recreation and culture director and town manager in developing and implementing a plan to meet recreational needs across a wide range of ages and interests, including not only sports, but events that are cultural or educational. Applications should be submitted to Crosbie at Town Hall, 25 Green St., or e-mailed to tm@ipswich-ma.gov no later than Feb. 19. Applications are also available at the town website, www.ipswichma.gov.
