School board approves increased budget

The School Board has approved a $65.9 million operating budget for the 2013-2014 school year. The proposed budget offsets increases in health care, salaries, and retirement costs by replacing several full-time teachers with part-time instructors, and by eliminating two psychologist positions and contracting for those services. It also postpones the high school roof project, which was expected to cost more than $1 million. The new budget is $454,370 higher than this year’s budget.
