Clerk seeks candidates for town meeting positions

Town Clerk Mary Ellen Lannon is seeking write-in candidates to fill several Town Meeting member vacancies. The town has eight precincts, each with eight Town Meeting positions available each election year; each term is for three years. Precincts 5, 7, and 8 need write-in candidates now that the Feb. 5 deadline to pull nomination papers has passed. The town election is scheduled for March 26. In addition to electing Town Meeting members, voters will fill several town offices, including town moderator, assessor, two seats on the Planning Board, one seat on the Board of Health, two seats on the Housing Authority, and two seats on the library Board of Trustees. The School Committee has the only contested race. Four candidates will compete for two seats on the School Committee: incumbent Christian D. Nixon; Brian A. Vernaglia; Susan Verdicchio; and Michael P. Galvin. Anyone interested in becoming a write-in candidate should contact the town clerk’s office at 781-721-7130.
