The town has approved the Penn Brook School project and it is nearing completion of the design development phase for the new K-6 school building, to be located in a wooded area just south of the current school building. According to School Superintendent Carol Jacobs, the final design and cost estimates are being reviewed and have been submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority. Construction documents are in the development stage and bidding will begin this spring and summer, with plans to start construction on the $46 million project in November. The town’s share of this project will be $25 million, approved at an October 2012 Special Town Meeting.
