Town enforces mandatory recycling policy

The town is now enforcing a mandatory recycling policy. A copy of the policy was sent to all residents with their most recent tax bill. Under the new policy, on the weeks that a neighborhood has recycling pickup, if there are visible recyclables in the trash, the trash will not be picked up. Everything that a household recycles can now go in the same container; there is no need to sort recyclables. Mandatory recycling reduces the amount of trash sent to the incinerator in North Andover and, therefore, the amount the town must pay for disposal.
