North Reading

Town election rescheduled

The Board of Selectmen has voted to reschedule the North Reading town election to April 30 so it coincides with the US Senate primary, according to town clerk Barbara Stats. The local election was originally scheduled for May 7, but Governor Deval Patrick signed an act that allows any municipality whose town election is scheduled within 30 days of the special state primary to reschedule. North Reading selectmen decided to hold a dual election to save money. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the parish hall of Saint Theresa’s Parish, 51 Winter St. There will be separate check-ins and ballots for each election. The deadline to register to vote in either April 30 election is now April 10. The deadline to return nomination papers remains the same, March 19.
