The School Committee on Tuesday will discuss a proposal to change the days of its meetings to Thursdays, starting in January 2014. The change has been proposed to avoid conflicts with Board of Aldermen meetings, which are often held on Tuesdays when there is a Monday holiday. That forces the School Committee to reschedule its meetings. School administrators have also said that it is easier for them to stay late for meetings at the end of the week than it is at the beginning. The School Committee must approve the change, which it would like to do by May, when nomination papers are available for the November municipal election. The committee will accept public input on the proposed change until April 1. Tuesday’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the aldermen’s chamber at City Hall.
