Schools seek renovation funding

Somerville is applying to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for funding to renovate three schools, including the high school. The Board of Aldermen authorized the city to submit statements of interest to the School Building Authority for money to pay for renovations at the Benjamin G. Brown School, Winter Hill Community School, and Somerville High School. The statements are the first step in applying for funding from the authority, Board of Aldermen president Bill White said. The statements of interest outline the projects for which the city seeks funding and the reasoning behind the projects, but do not specify cost estimates.
