The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Merrimack Valley Hospital and Trinity Emergency Medical Service, is now accepting vendor applications for retail, restaurant, service, nonprofit, and youth-focused organizations that wish to participate in KidsFEST 2013, a family-friendly event scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5. The theme of this year’s KidsFEST will be the “Wizard of Oz.” The upper deck of the Merrimack Street parking garage in Haverhill will be transformed into the Emerald City of Oz, complete with a field of poppies, hot air balloon, and yellow brick road. A munchkin parade will kick off the festivities; children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite “Oz” character, along with a doll or teddy bear. The first-place winner of the munchkin parade will receive a $75 gift certificate to Build-a-Bear. Admission to KidsFEST is free. Last year, more than 70 vendors participated in the festivities, with the support of 50 volunteers. KidsFEST 2012 welcomed a record-breaking 15,000 children and their parents. This year’s event is expected to draw an additional 2,000 families. To learn more about becoming a vendor at KidsFEST 2013, contact Shannon O’Neil at 978-869-5232.
