City voters will head to the polls Tuesday to fill the 28th Middlesex House seat formerly held by Stephen “Stat” Smith. Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the district, which covers Everett. Smith, an Everett Democrat, won a fourth term in the 28th Middlesex last November, but resigned his seat Jan. 1 as part of an agreement to plead guilty in federal court to misdemeanor voter fraud charges. Competing are Ward 4 Common Councilor Rosa DiFlorio and former School Committee member Dennis John Gianatassio, both independents; and Ward 1 Common Councilor Wayne Matewsky, a Democrat.
